About Operation Tabletop

  • Mission: Prevent veteran suicide by fostering connections through tabletop games.

Vision: A world where no chairs at our table remain empty due to suicide.

  • We believe camaraderie, laughing and having fun over boardgames can be an alternative or a steppingstone for those who are hesitant to seek therapy.

Our goal is to create a space, or set the table if you will, for veterans, active duty service members, and their families to connect and build relationships.

We align our efforts in support of the VA’s Nation Strategy for Preventing Veteran Suicide by serving as a peer support network where veterans build friendships, share resources, and support each other, while also connecting active-duty servicemembers with veterans to facilitate the transition to civilian life with mentorship and guidance.

  • Games foster connection, growth, and resilience.
Operation Tabletop uses the social nature of tabletop and online games to help service members build relationships, combat isolation, and form lasting support networks. Games encourage communication, trust, and empathy through collaboration. They promote mindfulness by focusing attention and relieving stress. Gameplay builds life skills like problem-solving, creativity, and emotional resilience, offering a therapeutic outlet through imaginative roleplay. Most importantly, gaming is inclusive—welcoming people of all backgrounds and experiences, and promoting understanding across differences.
